If I read between the lines, and some msxdevcompo fans have already said that more clearly, your best wish was that msxdevcompo should become the sequel to msxdev, in another words that msxdevcompo should be an exclusive contest, without any form of alternative competition.
Don't project your own thoughts onto me.
The history of #msxdev Compo is at least 5 years old. It was finally announced back in December, when there was no indication of MSXdev'xx ending. I even participated in MSXdev'11 and won 2nd place. If I wanted MSXdev'xx dead, would I have joined?! Besides, it is not
my competition; #msxdev Compo is organized by all of #msxdev, which includes some of the most active MSX programmers in the world.
You're complaining about some aspects the rules, but clearly you are not seeing the whole picture. It's really all very well thought-out and was decided upon over the course over several months since summer 2011.
Please stop spreading FUD like "comparing a 'simple' MSX1/PSG game with a MSXturboR/MoonSound/GFX9000 game" (a quote from you @ mrc), because obviously there will not be such direct comparisons. You are mirroring exactly the FUD of Wolf et al.
Like the general rules, the voting process is being thoroughly thought-out right now. There will be set of guidelines and a voting process that will ensure a
fair and balanced list of winners at the end of the competition.
