Hello guys !

From AAMSX, we want to show all the games of this MSXDEV Edition in our Arcade Zone area.

We detected some problems with some games that make a bit difficult to show on our Arcade Zone.
We tested all games in a real MSX1 (Sony HitBit 75P) with MegaFlashRom SCC+ by Pazos and played them only with joystick. We prefer that visitors use joystick instead of keyboard. ;D
Maybe some of this problems aren't real problems and developers of each game can explain us how to run them properly. If this is the case ,please apologize us ;)

These are the games that we found any problem in:

CMJN
Doesn't run. All screen became pink.

Destroy
In demo mode of the game, we can't stop demo with key or joystick button. We must wait demo will finish.

Gorgeous Gemma in Escape from the Space Disposal Planet
We can't start to play with joystick button. It only starts with Spacebar like the text says.  ;)  In game works fine with joystick.

Libreway
Doesn't run. All screen became pink.

Nayade (Update)
We can't start to play with joystick button. Game doesn't works with joystick. :(

Uridium
We can't start to play with joystick button. In game works fine with joystick.

Thank you for your effort to make this games. This is awesome ! 10 new games !
We hope that people who visit 45RUMSX love to play all of them.
This is the reason why we want to ask you for a  patched version of these games in the list in order to show them at 45RUMSX this June, 28th Saturday :)

Thanks again developers :)

For Uridium atm you can wait that the music ends.
The game will start by itself in normal mode.
When do you need I add joystick controls to the game start?

I mean that I would send you a patched version out of contest as I have no time to open my code for a couple of days.

I really have no idea why this happens related to CMJN and Libreway, since i only have emulators to try them (and i tried on both OpenMSX and Mess, and it is weird that OpenMSX being that inaccurate ) - this makes me afraid that all stuff i coded on Boriel’s ZX-Basic Compiler doesn’t work on real hardware, what is really a very weird situation, since the sg1000/GameGear/MasterSystem stuff worked perfectly as i found from the feedback from SMSPower forum (they tried the .rom files in Everdrive sd card reader cartridge) - until tonight i’m going to share the sources (Boriel’s ZX-Basic, the .asm resulting from ZX-Basic Compiler, and their SG1000 and ColecoVision with their sources as well) - and thanks a lot from your feedback, btw! anyway, if someone else can try to test our submissions on other real hardware as well, please let us know! :) (i wonder if it is a specific Sony HitBit situation, if is there some damage, or a very specific issue to consider on our codes)

When you want to play with joystick and maybe you're laying on bed and too lazy to get out of it to press space :D

I'm gonna try myself in a bit. On a pair of machines, maybe. Stay tuned!

Nope, and you just hurt the machine's feelings by suggesting it :P

K, I made some quick tests on MSX2 and I'm gonna post now before I forget and also because being so close to deadline, if I has to be helpful, every minute counts :)

I didn't check joysticks as JamQue already did.
Both CMJN and Libreway works on MSX2 using ODO. I got some sprite glitches on Libreway.  Just to be sure, both have no sound, right?
Nayade is a beta, so I didn't test much. Anyway I found some characters on the first screen (when credits appear) that probably aren't mean to be there?. A bullet or so.
Destroyer, doesn't pass VDP test (MSX2). Yep, skipping it with DEL key works. It's a kind of anti-real-MSX protection? :P  Jokes off, tho I can't turn my CRT 90 degrees, I think it's still playable. After all, we're used to sideview shooters. And you don't need to read scores while playing :)

Now i'm gonna try MSX1 to make proper and harder tests. I hope that, if you're still going to make some last minute fixes, we're still in-time and it's itseful info.

Ganbare!

*Note: I'm only doing some quick compatibility tests, see if they work and if there are some glitches or strange behavios. I know it's still not a proper test, I should try more machines and more deeply into games, but no time for it. Didn't have time until now either. But It's something and if it helps, I'm happy. I'm *NOT* testing playability issues, cause for that I should spend more time playing and I'm short of time, but if any contestant wants my opinion about the little I played, feel free to ask.

K, after some quick MSX1 tests...

But before that, I tested again the ROMS on MSX2 using FlashROM. Now Libreway had no sprite glitches. Also, the strange characters on Nayade dissappeared.
Note*: Test on MSX2 were made using 60hz.

Now on MSX1:

No sprite glitches on Libreway either, so maybe it was just a stupid thing with ODO. Tested several times and didn't happen, so I'd forget about this. I found the annoying key click is active so when you are playing you can notice the click click click sound. Same for CMJN. But that's really easy to fix, so I hope it helps.

The strange characters on Nayade appeared again. Also in-game. But not always. Sometimes it goes away. It seems to be quite random :/

Destroyer. VDP Test passed on my 20p!! :D But....... then the game itself doesn't work ok with Toshiba VDP as it uses only 1 tileset bank, same as Zero (we were adviced here) and Uridium-1pixel-version (also adviced). I'm sorry if you adviced it too and I'm not telling anything new :P It's a pity cause 20P model was pretty common here and more people will have this issue. And, yes, it is standard. That's why (probably) any of the commercial era games used this mirrored tiles mode.

All MSX1 tests were 50hz (20P).

Sorry I didn't make any exotic test, like using slot expander or so.

Thanks MSKun for your test. Regarding Destroyer I've uploaded a new ROM image considerig your comments.
j4mk3 thanks for your test too. Demo will not change (difficult to explain it) you only have to wait for a few seconds.

I just read this post, but I knew it and it was already corrected in the final version uploaded some minutes ago.
