hi!

This thread were started because an issue i considered somehow weird - i sent (to Robsy, which one seems to receive by mail all the msxdev contributions) a version of Solitario game

After sending it, i had no more feedback from Robsy about the contribution, even trying to ask him once again some days later (not sure about 1 day or 1 week)

I assumed all were minimally ok, and i waited 1 week to see if it appeared in the msxdev05 robsy's webpage - nothing...

Meanwhile i kept seeing msxdev05 webpages - more contributions, and the mine one, nothing...

Finally recently i saw a message from Viejo Archivero about msxdev05 conclusion at msxposse.com forum and i took a look, and nothing again

I really don't know what happened - i changed some chat with Xenon, which said me it seems to be a misunderstanding, and encouraging me for the msxdev06 competition (i confess it's a bit difficult getting encouraged...)

So, i'm curious to know about what i done wrong (specially from Robsy, and as well everybody else knowing what were going on), for me and everybody else avoiding this kind of 'unknown' mistakes

thanks

I am so sorry about this misunderstanding.  Cry
I must admit now that I forget your e-mails regarding your solitaire game, but I have checked them now and I have understood what happened: you send me the game twice, first it was a 16 KB ROM and then you submitted it again as an 8 KB ROM.

But in both e-mails you said that the game was incomplete. I understood that you were preparing a *COMPLETE* version. This was also supported by the fact that you did not include the game instructions as required. The MSXdev'05 rules state that only complete versions can enter to the final contest. This is why COSMIC BATTLE was published as *ALPHA* an judged on a different basis.

I am really sorry about it - it was a communication problem and I was so busy that I could not handle it properly. I would like to apologize and try to find a solution: I have your original e-mails and I have also the game. I can talk to the juror, Patriek, to comment the game as he has done with the others. The game will be included both in the MSXdev'05 status page and results page, and an explanation provided on the news. I hope that all this would eventually satisfy you.

Please accept my apologies.  Undecided

of course i accept your apologizes, but i can't deny of being very concerned about the future of msxdev, which one i consider a very important  way of keeping alive the msx development spirit !!!!

As well, i know what is a chaoticly (or becoming) busy live - working or having training 12 hour per day, and sleeping less than 4- as well i hope your work effort can be a future successful and/or sactisfactory result! :-)

well, i have the idea about any bad work can be considered an incomplete good work (...?) - anyway there were some incomplete and undownloadable game contribution reports - which i imagined my game suggestion would be reported there just in time or in a short period (before end of 2005 at least...)

And as well, the game is still very far from what i really want to do about coding (specially when talking about assembler, like the ideas about lacing screen 10, 4 player games, etc...), but i think were around the level of the stuff in msx-basic contributed

Only if it's not a disturbing at all...  btw the mostly motivation i had sending something to msxdev were basicly the joy of being part of it, and since were the 1st contribution, and about what would go on to get more involved of contributing.
The problem is not exactly the fact of being satisfacted or not - is mostly the worry about the present and future of msxdev and competitions like this (and normally situations like this usually means some decadence, which i hope is not happening)  - and other people, at the time or futurelly, having the same problem

otherwise,  i'm with my humble viewpoint about any competition has lacks, and everybody is always learning with the lack consequences may happen - it's like the live itself...

an answer may sound stupid : i didn't know how to do it.... - and btw i taught the game were so popular it wouldn't need instructions... - and your silence i interpreted as immediate contribution accepting (there started the misunderstanding, i think...)

just relax! :-)

Ok then: I'll include your game in the MSXdev'05 status page, I'll write a proper apology/justification in the main page and then I'll ask Guyver to review it, if he agrees.

About continuity and decadence, I can grant you that the next MSXdev'06 would be even better and that such problems will not happen again. Upcoming news soon!

Why don't you wait a little bit and include the complete game in the new MSXDev'06 edition??

Agreed with Imanok!, why not include the finished one the next dev?, sure you'll have enough time to add some new assembler routines or even more graphics Smiley
