Hi,

Me and Vincent are releasing the sequel to MSX Unleashed on April 28th. Since this is the day of the 31st MSX Users Meeting in Barcelona, we were wondering if someone is interested in showing the demo there. The requirements for running the demo is a 50Hz MSX1 with 64kB ram (works with 64kB ram cartridge) and a floppy drive. If needed we can maybe make a rom version as well but we're not sure we can make one in time for the meeting.

If someone with the required hardware likes to show the demo, send me or Vincent a mail and we'll send you the demo. We would really appreciate it.

Many thanks,
Daniel & Vincent

As you know, Karoshi won't be at the meeting. I'm really sorry because I'll miss it!  Cry

Anyway, I hope that someone will be able to help you.

I've missed this message!

Have someone mailed to you, Daniel? I could have that configuration if you are still interested. I have MSX1 VG8020 (64KB RAM) and I could get an external floppy disk drive provided by Ramones. But if someone more could test it no problem!! Smiley

If a ROM version exists I could test it on my MegaFlash too, I own both SRAM/SCC versions.

I will mail you anyways, since I am not going to the meeting with my MSX1 but with my A1ST if nothing changes my mind.  Roll Eyes

Hey Gobsy, aren't you coming either? Not even a mere visitor? Yeah, well, I can understand... Mallorca and a long weekend... Tongue

Thanks for your help Saeba and Ramones (and Robsy and viejo_archivero). I hope you'll like the demo. We've been working quite hard last couple of weeks to get it done in time.

dvik:

Just a minor question. For Polka2 (yes, I'm still outlining that one Cheesy) I'll support this flicker/mixmode for tiles. But as things looks now, it'll be a special mode (mix-mode) in which there are no sprites. (In normal mode there are sprites). So, this choice of normal+sprites and mixmode without sprites.. is that a problem? Could there be an advantage of having sprites in mixmode? Or are sprites out of the question anyway in mixmode -from a technical point of view- ? I estimate that this mixmode is basically used for converted images, and if one would draw something detailed in Polka2, such as a logo, then perhaps sprites are less needed anyway, as there're more colors one can use by having those mixed patterns. I'm a bit drawn towards leaving out sprites for mixmode, unless someone can give me a very good reason to support sprites at that spot.. Tongue

My guess is that flickery pictures wouldn't be that useful with sprites. The only real use of these images I see is as still images, e.g. adventure games, logos etc. Perhaps someone would like to use sprites as masking but other than that I doubt sprites will be useful. Otoh you never stop being surprised what people can do so I wouldn't say never. I think logos is the main use for these type of images because they look flashy but you get tired of the flickering pretty quick.
