Hi guys!

The people at Funet have recently changed their policy regarding hobby related and non scientific areas on their servers. Amongst others, the MSX area was asked to arrange for other hosting. Started in 1993, the Funet MSX ftp archive has been in existence for 13 years, so it is really the end of an era.

I have been the maintainer of the MSX area since 1996, following up Roderik Muit. I have decided to continue maintaining the site for the time being, and put it online at this new url:

http://www.msxarchive.nl

There are redirects in place at the Funet server, so old http links will keep working because they will be directed to the same files at the new server. But webmasters be advised: change your links!

At this time, it has not yet been possible to enable anonymous ftp on the new server. I wonder if there are still many users connecting through ftp?

There are also benefits from changing the server: now there is the possibility for building a mysql/php oriented search function! I'll see how this can be used in the future, but I'm no good php/web coder myself.

No problem

I have been adminning the site since 1996 and i thought it was a shame to put all these files offline. The hosting nowadays is a lot cheaper for this kind of storage, the archive is about 3.4GB in size.

I will have a look at the ftp access.
