Hahaha. I think there are really nice games this year, like always. I just hope the winner receives the votes from the community, and not from begging for votes: this is not a race for getting votes just for any other cause than the game itself. Just commenting the games is a really great price for our months of work; taking the computer to work to keep coding, weekends and weekends at home coding, liters and liters of unhealthy coffee, ... And I hope we keep it fair. I didn't give any information about this forum to my friends here in Germany, nor tried to collect people to give a single vote. You decide. Jon already tried to solve this situation by closing the membership period these days but I guess it is impossible to keep it really ... "real".

This comment may seem not clear to some but I'm sure it will to the most.

the fact is that the quality of the stuff made here at MSXdev contests are far above the average from similar tms9918-related initiatives - i guess it is natural that some special visibility MSXdev will have, because of this - i guess that, for example, running a sg1000 version of a MSXdev game on a Master System, from a sd card on a everdrive cartridge, is not a possibility to waste! Wink

i'm actually here mostly for the joy and the excitement of being part of this retrocomputing initiative (i actually really doubt that my games will receive any prize, even an honourable mention! Cheesy ), that i hope will last for long decades at least! (and thanks a lot, Jon, for not quitting it! Wink )

How's your assembler doing? I remember you started some years ago.

Atariage is a very nice place to get inspirations and exchange ideas, I could say msx Uridium comes from there.
I've started studying Titanium by Rasmus

http://atariage.com/forums/topic/215393-titanium/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi-m-3xVKWM

and I'm using his Magellan to verify tile transitions and to support generation of  maps.

Add that I do not see new generations of msx gamers and coders on the horizon (I tried with my children, but they are too young to start coding and they like only tablets  Grin), so the best way to broaden the asphyctic msx audience is to try to involve other fans from other platforms close to our system.

How's your assembler doing? I remember you started some years ago.

from one side, it’s a bit in stand-by (i were actually about to start using Pasmo or WLA-DX, but i didn’t yet)

from the other side, i were using assembly parts quite frequently in libraries that i were adding to Boriel’s ZX-Basic Compiler (just like these 2 games i posted here in MSXdev this year) - i was not going too much into tricky z80 stuff, that was mostly on stuff that might make coding a bit more comfortable, like pushing msx2/gamegear/mastersystem/ulaplus palettes with hex colours, pushing pixels at msx2+ screen modes with rgb colours, etc. - at http://nitrofurano.altervista.org/retrocoding (still very disorganized and incomplete) you might have some idea of what i were trying to do

the only complicated situation about Boriel’s ZX-Basic (that i found) is that it uses ix and stack a lot, specially when you use routines and so on, and this is complicated when you have too little ram available (like PacMan arcade machine, i think it only has 1kb there... :S - after my frustrating attempt, i really can, very humbly, recognize how skilled Jim Bagley is for coding PacManicMinerMan for that machine... )

what is Magellan? please tell us more about! Smiley

yes, people around colecovision, sg1000 and it-99-4a are often curious about "wazzup" in the msx scene! this is quite exciting! Smiley
