Title: Jawbreaker II
Developer: Maggoo
Music: Makinavaja / Toni Cano-Caballero
Cover artwork: Ericb59 / Eric Boez
Year: 2014
Game size/Req: 16KB ROM/8KB RAM
Game genre: Pacman clone
Download: http://abyssmsx.com/JawbreakerII.zip
Video: http://youtu.be/7agOaNPANyg
About: This game is a port of the TI99 game of the same name. It's a fast paced arcade game heavily inspired by Pacman and released in 1983 by Sierra On-Line for the Apple II/Atari 8bits/TI99.  The MSX version includes some enhancements but remains true to the spirit of the original game (meaning fun but slightly primitive Grin).

Is there anyone around here who can help making/porting music for this in PT3 format? I'm currently using placeholder music coming from some Speccy games but it's not meant to be used in the final version.

Just sent you a message, thanks a lot for offering your help.

Game is almost complete now, I'm only missing the music and some fine tuning.

Great news!! Must say enemies now look a bit weird, as I have been used to looks of TI-99/4A game which I used to play a lot on emulator Smiley but I don´t mind that! Wink Thank you! This is one of the "wish that early MSX games were like this..."

I hope my wish is not too late, I hope you could use same music which was used on TI-99/4A. Smiley

Well the only difference with the original TI99 sprite is the second layer. But if time permits I may include the "original" mode sprites as well :-)

BTW, someone pointed out the oddest thing to me today. Apparently Bytebusters made some sort of port to the MSX before. It plays differently than the original Jawbreaker II but the "inspiration" is quite obvious : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMJmGsH_z54. The sprites are identical too.

I just haven´t been used to see too many MSX games with colourful "multi-colour" sprites, in the eighties, I mean. Smiley "Original" mode is nice too, if you are able to add that. Smiley

original first Jawbreaker on Apple II

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmxyMjwwavk

Smack Wacker, it seems to be a variation of Jawbreaker II, not a clone of first Jawbreaker.

http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/the-bytebusters/smack-wacker/release/2405/

Mr. Jaws - seems like you didn´t knew this game either. Smiley But please don´t let that put you down, I wan´t to play your conversion. Smiley

One more wish, I hope you could add similar colour changing letters of TI-99/4A version, or some similar effect, I just like too much that kind of flashing letters in old games. Smiley It was nearly totally unused thing in MSX games.  Cry
