Well, let's check your opinion about ROM size for the MSXdev'14. We are not into accepting MegaROM this time, and people wanting bigger games can eventualy join #msxdev compo (a challenge we support and strongly recommend for those unconfortable with MSXdev boundaries): so remember that this poll will be considered just as a pulse we want to take to the comunity, although we have things pretty clear for the upcoming edition.

My answer: 128KB... Why? Just because I would like to see great games in this size running in my MSX Tongue

+1
My two cents:
1) there are many games from past competitions that lay unfinished in the HDs of the teams because larger than 48K
2) I think that allowing any rom size could open the contest to new ideas and possibilities.
Actually it is quite easy to fill this room with pcm audio data sites.google.com/site/testmsx/Home/scc-pcm-replayer or videos sites.google.com/site/testmsx/Home/double-buffer-in-screen-2-on-msx. It would be very interesting to see actual games for msx exploring these directions and not only demos.
(I know about the msxcompo story, but it is mainly for later msx generations and any comparison among msx1 and the following msx generations would be unfair).

Well, it is time to start the voting poll: I must say that just 21 votes in a week and a half it is kinda sad, I really expected more opinions here. As it seems MegaROM size has its fans, we could consider it in the future: but as we said before, we had pretty clear the 32/48KB for this edition. Again, for those wanting bigger games, we encourage them to enter the #msxdev compo: even if every generation of MSX is allowed, a well done MSX1 MegaROM could stand a chance to win this compo for sure.

Btw, tomorrow we will start the voting poll along some options previously commented: we hope we can gain more voters for the poll in order to get more representative results! Thnx for supporting the MSXdev!

According to the results of this poll and the MSXdev'14 entries that were already announced in its first week, #msxdev Compo should see between 5 (47.6% of 12) and 10 (number of voters) entries from developers on this forum Grin

#msxdev Compo 2013 registration is still open for exactly 30 days. There is a nice prize pot and currently not many entries.
Registration for #msxdev Compo 2014 starts January 1st 2014, which may be a better choice for projects that haven't started yet  Wink

Anyway, good luck to all developers on finishing your games!
