Another new poll about the contest. Although most voices agreed on set this to "optional", lets check it into a new poll. Go and shout out your opinion!
Btw, the next and last poll (if anyone does not suggest more) will be about accepting sponsorized prizes or not.

And my vote is for: optional (you can share it if you want).
The option for extra points is not fair for contests entries, let us suppose a game is very good but another wins over it just because it provided source.

If a game wins over another just because the bonus points earned being open sourced, that means that the score of the two games was very similar. So I don't think it's a problem. I prefer a little reward for providing sources Even if it is merely symbolic.

I vote some extra point for the ones that share the sources. I think that the comunity will benefit of them maily the ones that ase trying to learn asm and how make videogames. Only a few simbolic points, not a huge value.

I agree with both opinions. It's a good way to promote the publication of source code.

I think that is a good idea to share code, but... people should do whatever they want,
so why doesn't the contest gift extra bonus for open source games?

I voted for optional. It's great to share the code, but It must be an option. (I'm late for the size poll, but I agree with the result )

Voted for optional and with bonuses if the author makes them public...
The newbies want to learn from the masters. Remember nobody was born with knowledge...

What about a "educational purposes" prize for the game with the best source code (comments, organization, cleanness, etc.)

Do you think that giving the community a new game for free and not giving the sources is not being generous?

Imanok, perhaps Loco should have added a "more" inside his statement, but don't you think you are being a bit nitpicky here?

Sorry for my comment. I saw from the person who knows anything about how to programming something for the MSX and want to. For me, code snipets would be like the grog for the pirates of Monkey Island.
Of course that the effort of doing something free is something admirable and I´m sorry for the comment.

Don't worry, LocoMJ... I just wanted to clarify that point.
I have the feeling that if you don't follow the open source trending, you are evil or something...
