Great news!

Now it's time for me to decide what project should I finish. It's too bad I've got plenty of them. Focus, I need to focus. Wink

Hahaha! That's true.

There are plenty of versions of WAVeR around, but none of them are complete. Blame on me!  Embarrassed

there's just one waver feature I'd like, and then it'd be all lovely and kittens and roses.

(as mentioned in my post in the english section) having some kind of loadingscreen, even if it's just a tiny bitmap image or some text, just so it looks like a nicely packaged game (for tape/cd etc) instead of a screen full of WAVER LOADING A GAME [gamehere] WAVER sort of thing.

This year I've been incredible busy, but at least I've finally read the rules for this year's contest and I want to comment on some things.

1. I disagree with the request to limit publication in cartridge form to maintain a free ROM available. That should be author's decision.

2. With music from Pink Floyd. We want prizes! prizes!... We want prizes! prizes!...

Just my two cents Smiley

It's always been an important rule since the 1st edition and I don't think it will change : a digital version is a way to promote both the contest and an eventual release on cartridge that can be enhanced with additionnal levels for example.

People who want a contest with a game only available on cartridge for maximum 1 year can enter the #msxdev compo (another contest) at the beginnning of 2013 for example with at the same time the game on cartridge, and the digital release will only happen in the beginning of 2014.

For games only on cartridges for more than 1 year, the only way is the release outside a contest. However, is this realistic when the number of real machines' users decreases ? Maybe selling digital versions should be viewed as a solution (for a price that should be lower than the cartridge version).

That's not my point. It's fine for me to release a ROM for the contest and keeping it available (like Zombie Near).

My point is that the rule makes it to look like the enhanced version for cartridge should also be available as a download for free.

Maybe the rule should be rewrited as this:

* Any ROM contributed to MSXdev will be always available. The author is free of improving it and doing further releases in Internet, cartridge or other media.

Actually, the rule has never been understood in this way and for example Karoshi Corporation and Relevo Videogames have released most of their MSXdev' games in enhanced version on cartridge, while the non-enhanced version remains online.

So, there's no any real problem. From this point, the coders choose the way they prefer for their games and the end-user buys or not the cartridge, that's indeeed another discusssion when you come to games only available on cartridges for 1 year, 2 years, 3 years .... or the eternity.
