Título: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: Jon_Cortazar en 16 de Septiembre de 2013, 03:11:28 pm Apart from the voting system, when every entry is received and voting starts, *registration of new users will be closed*. We hope this will avoid 1 post users into the forum just to cast votes.... anyway, here is the detail about the voting types.
TYPE A (Same as last edition): - Public votes, by answering a thread. - 1, 2 and 3 points given for the 3rd, 2nd and 1st game. TYPE B: - Secret votes, by sending a PM to a newly created user for that matter. - 1, 2 and 3 points given for the 3rd, 2nd and 1st game. - After the voting period, votes will be made public. TYPE C: - Same as type A (public votes) but giving points to categories for each game, instead of just 1,2 or 3 points. - Categories will be (0-10 points each): Visuals (gfx/effects), Audio (music/sfx), Playability (controls, game plays smoothly), Finish (polished level of the game) TYPE D: - Same as type B (secret votes) but giving points to categories for each game, instead of just 1,2 or 3 points. - Categories will be (0-10 points each): Visuals (gfx/effects), Audio (music/sfx), Playability (controls, game plays smoothly), Finish (polished level of the game) Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: Jon_Cortazar en 16 de Septiembre de 2013, 03:15:33 pm Btw, I voted for TYPE A. It was clean, easy and straightforward: if people just be fair, and don't try to spoil the fun with multinicks and whatsoever, I really think this voting system fits the contest. I was in doubt with voting with categories... anyway, I am curious to see the results. Hope THIS TIME this poll has more users than last one! ;)
Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: mars2000you en 16 de Septiembre de 2013, 05:06:32 pm If type C or D should be chosen, I should add a 5th category for Originality as it was the case for '05 to '11 editions.

I intentionally removed it because it was often misunderstood: the game should be an original concept? or is it called also original when it is a genre that we do not see that often in MSX games? Or because of an original setting into a well-known genre?... In this case, I think visuals, audio, playability and polish are categories enough to define the game, and will simplify things a bit. Rite, I've also noticed it, that's mostly the reason to remove it ;). Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: theNestruo en 16 de Septiembre de 2013, 07:01:22 pm I've voted C 'cause I feel "scores" (0-10 points for each game) are more fair than 3-2-1 points.
No categories (i.e.: just one general score for each game) would be fine as well :) Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: kabish en 16 de Septiembre de 2013, 07:18:09 pm My Vote for option C. Better point from 0 to 10.
Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: Jon_Cortazar en 17 de Septiembre de 2013, 05:20:43 am My Vote for option C. Better point from 0 to 10. Well, not just a 0-10 general note: it must be categorized, as the following example. GAME (Team) Visuals (0-10), Audio (0-10), Playability (0-10), Finish (0-10) Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: kabish en 17 de Septiembre de 2013, 10:43:13 am Yeah I understood that !!! Thanks anyway for your correction.
Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: pentacour en 17 de Septiembre de 2013, 03:11:47 pm My vote is for option B. I always thought that average of individual concepts have not always to coincide with the game I would play more hours (the best game for me). Although it's interesting to recognize for example the best game in a category (something like Oscars).
But I would add more points to option A/B, for example 1 to 5, so it will be more distribution of points. Re-reading comments, it would be interesting Option D (or C) with a new "category" of name "Best game" with points 0-10, that will really determine the best game independently of the average of other categories. Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: Tono en 20 de Septiembre de 2013, 02:55:10 pm I vote for C. I think it adds a lot of feedback for game developers. Eurovision system is in same way quite exciting, but it discriminates the less good games. A game can have 100 points and another one only 10 and yet it is impossible to say what's the quality step between both of them.
Categories also let some games to win in specific attributes like graphics or music. And I prefer public votes because I love to read your comments, guys. I learn also from them. Título: Re: Poll: Voting system Publicado por: Jon_Cortazar en 30 de Septiembre de 2013, 01:55:06 pm Again, just a handful of votes! ::), well, thank you for sharing your opinion! MSXdev'14 will be announced pretty soon, stay tuned!
