Título: laserdisc games like Mad Dog McCree and others Publicado por: nitrofurano en 19 de Enero de 2014, 04:49:04 pm Probably interesting homebrew MSX games would be laserdisc ones - rarely they are mentioned, and there are actually laserdisc titles for MSX (Pioneer Palcom) like Starfighters, Astron Belt, Cosmos Circuit, etc.
Which ideas would be interesting to have in a new homebrew game using this technology? and how tough would be creating them? (like from videos, 3d renderings, animations, etc.) - And technically, how these games work, and how can we start doing some experiences, even on emulation only? I'm curious about the development of this topic! :) Título: Re:laserdisc games like Mad Dog McCree and others Publicado por: pitpan en 20 de Enero de 2014, 01:08:51 pm As long as the video player is external to the MSX, you need to interface it somehow. On the old LD players, they were controlled by custom hardware or RS232. Today, it will be easier to connect the MSX to a PC serving the video and control it using a RS232 (if available, they are quite uncommon now on PC) or move to USB / Ethernet or any other invention.
The other way would be to make the MSX replay the video, as Nyrikkii shown in its Dragons Lair tech demo for MSX2 computers with IDE. Título: Re:laserdisc games like Mad Dog McCree and others Publicado por: nitrofurano en 12 de Febrero de 2014, 11:07:16 am would be interesting! :) as well as it was the talk about this topic at msx.org forum - let's see what might appear soon... :)
