First of all, thank you so much for supporting the MSXdev'14. With a number of 10 presented entries that will compete for a prize of 330 euros donated by the community, this edition keeps the spirit of the contest alive and demonstrates that's a place for innovation, creativity and fun for every MSX developer out there (hey, and also provides new games for the users too). Overall, another nice experience, that comes to its final phase.

Anyway this time we feel that we prolly haven't explained the new extended deadline for fixing entries: it was expected to be used for little bugfixes or last time compatibility issues, but it is not stated that well into the rules. That's why entries such as CMJN or Nayade Resistance have been accepted for now: I hope this upcoming week will help developers to finetune their entries or, in some cases, complete them, as it is clearly stated in the rules that "[...] only complete games will be accepted: beta-versions, demos or “to be finished” games will not be included in the contest.". This means: dudes, you have an oportunity to finish your game during this week due to the new second deadline, do not waste it because uncompleted games won't be accepted.

Also, some english instructions are mandatory, as the rules state in this point: "Besides this, all the games must be accompanied by the required game instructions written in English.". This means that, if your entry is a plain .ROM file, you must create an instruction file with the game manual in english. No matter its quality, but it is a must, and some entries need to be updated with their instructions. So, again: use this week to fix your games, but also be sure to create and upload an english instruction manual for the game, as it is a must for every entry to be accepted.

Well, now you are aware of everything, it is time to close the user registration in the community and wait for the final deadline for fixed versions of previously submitted entries (that is 22/06/2014 11.59GMT+1).

Let's re-check the list of presented entries for this edition!

  • CMJN (nitrofurano) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2523.0.html) - An experimental game with some isometric arcade game influences like Viewpoint or Zaxxon.
  • Destroyer (CEZ/Retroworks) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2577.0.html) - "Then Dhananjaya desired to shoot a mighty and terrible arrow..." (The Mahabharata, Book 8.)
  • Gorgeous Gemma in Escape from the Space Disposal Planet (Impulse9) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2522.0.html) - Help Gorgeous Gemma to clean the planet Illud from radioactive waste.
  • Jawbreaker II (Maggoo) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2557.0.html) - A Trip to the candy shop has never been so exciting-or so dangerous!!
  • Libreway (nitrofurano) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2527.0.html) - MSX conversion of the original game Freeway for Atari 2600
  • Mr. Cracksman (Relevo Videogames) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2502.0.html) - Break into the bank and go for the loot by evading policemen and get all the money!
  • Nayade Resistance (pentacour) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2505.0.html) - You are in jail on the planet Nayade. You need to escape and reach planet Hydra!
  • Pretty Kingdom (Nerlaska Studio) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2516.0.html) - Guide Vincent in the tower of Mozabar, the most dangerous tower in the known kingdoms.
  • Uridium (Trilobyte+Toni Gálvez) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2565.0.html) - Since 1986 our galaxy sector was in peace, but today the SuperDreadnoughts are back!
  • ZERO and the Castle of Infinite Sadness (Dioniso) (http://karoshi.auic.es/index.php/topic,2504.0.html) - In the castle of Infinite Sadness live evil entities that are spreading sadness all over the world.

And again, for those that have passed this first filter: fix/complete your game and/or provide an instruction manual in english!

Now it is time to play and polish the final versions! next week votes will start and, at the end of the month, the MSXdev'14 will be over! So enjoy the last days of this edition! Long live MSXdev contests, have fun, support the developers and enjoy the games!

Ok, MSX developers! Another deadline is close, as today is the last day for submitting fixes for your game and entrie's thread, so be sure to polish the forum thread of your entry and link to the final version for your game, as tomorrow every entry thread will be blocked!

Also, and according to the rules, tomorrow the poll will be set and ready! So be sure to play the games, analyze each project, and set your votes. An example voting thread will be published for making it even easier. The poll will be running for a week! Then, the calcs will be done and the winner set!

Thank you so much again for supporting the MSXdev and good luck! ;)

The time I had this week for MSX it was dedicated to polish Nayade. Now, I have time to play the other games. And I wanted to write some words to the programmers but the threads are closed!  ???  :'(

pentacour, last edition we did it the same way. Just use this STATUS thread, if you like: just put the title and your reaction, that I really think it will be appreciated by developers! But entry threads should be closed as they must remain as is until voting period finishes!  :police:

Ok John. Maybe for other year it could change. If it's for not change the version submited, it's more easy to change the zip on ftp if someone wants to cheat (  ??? ). I see more orderly each reaction in its thread. But no problem!

Now I go to continue playing them all!

Well, I have here and exact copy of what has been submitted yesterday. The file can change, but also the entry could be discualified for that matter ;)
